Privacy Policy


The RBQ website offers hyperlinks to government websites or websites of public or private bodies, in Québec and elsewhere. The information exchanged on these websites is not subject to the Privacy Policy of the RBQ website, but to the policy of the external website, if such a policy exists.


The RBQ treats electronic messages with the same confidentiality measures as mail received via the Post Office. 

Email transmissions are not fully secure.  Therefore, the RBQ does not recommend disclosing personal information, such as your social insurance number or credit card numbers, by email. For the same reason, the RBQ will not respond to questions by email if the response requires the transmission of confidential information.

Under sections 64 and 65 of this Act, if the RBQ requires a person's personal information, it must ensure the necessity of collecting this information, identify itself and provide the website visitor with the following information:

  • the name and address of the public body on whose behalf the information is being collected
  • the purposes for which the information is collected
  • the categories of persons who will have access to the information
  • the fact that a reply is obligatory, or that it is optional
  • the consequences for the person concerned or, as the case may be, for a third person, in case of a refusal to reply
  • the rights of access and correction provided by law.

The RBQ undertakes, in accordance with section 65.1 of this Act: 

  • to use the personal information provided by means of a form or a questionnaire from its website only to respond to a visitor's request or to act on that request
  • to send the personal information collected to another government body only if the request is addressed to this body or if this release is required by law
  • not to use the information transmitted to produce a profile of the visitors
  • not to forward this information to a private body.

Only the RBQ's authorized personnel have access to the personal information transmitted, in the exercise of their functions and for the tasks they must accomplish.


The RBQ does not place any persistent cookies in the browser files of visitors to its website. To improve the performance of some of the website's functionalities, a temporary cookie may be placed in the browser files. This cookie is deleted automatically when visitors exit their browser.

Visitors may disable acceptance of the cookies at any time by choosing the option for this subject in their browser. However, disabling acceptance could deprive them of some of the website's functionalities, including character size change and the search engine.
